The Path of the Heart
A creative journey back to yourself

Created for fiber artists, this is time set aside to rest, really rest. Not as an afterthought, but as part of the work. Mornings unfold gently. Hands soften. There’s space to be quiet, to make, or to simply sit and notice where you are.

Making here is about listening rather than pushing. Fiber in the hands, thread moving through cloth, wool taking shape. The joy comes back when there’s no rush and no need to prove anything. Just the simple pleasure of creating because it feels good to do so.

The retreat is also about connection. To the land. To each other. To the parts of yourself that get quieter in everyday life. There’s room for sharing and room for silence. Room to follow what feels true rather than what’s expected.

This is a place where your work doesn’t need to be finished and your ideas don’t need to be clear. What you bring is enough. Gifts are shared naturally, without comparison. There’s patience for the process, compassion for where you are, and time to let things unfold.

The Path of the Heart is an invitation to come back to yourself through making, rest, and being together in a beautiful, grounded place.

Lauren McElroy is a multidisciplinary fiber artist currently working in knitwear design, punch needle

embroidery, and as a meditation teacher. Since 2016 Lauren has been writing knitting patterns, spinning, dyeing wool and teaching classes in a variety of fiber arts. In 2024 Lauren graduated as an advanced meditation teacher and now offers retreats, a free weekly mediation class, and free guided meditations on insight timer.

Lauren has a deep relationship with the earth and the land that they live on. The earth is a constant and generous well of inspiration and companionship. Lauren draws much inspiration from interactions with the flora and fauna around their home, and feels a connection with the fiber, the water, the farms of this place and the long lineage of people who’ve engaged with this craft each time a thread passes through their fingers. Lauren’s work reflects their love of this place and they can’t wait to share it with you.

Lauren has been leading song circles, and ritual since 2014, singing in the oral tradition and crafting meaningful containers for people to experience transformation. This retreat was born out of the weaving together of these powerful offerings, the vibration of collective music making, deep study of meditation, and a love for all things fiber art.

Lauren has been published in interweave knits, vogue knitting, making magazine, spin off magazine, Ply magazine, knitstrips interactive knitting, Canvas rebel, and is a season 7 Knitstar. They have self published over 60 knitting patterns and collections.

You can find their work on Instagram , on their website Motherofpurl.net, and on Ravelry .
