The Milkhouse
Back when Red Clover Ranch was a working farm, this building is where the farmers stored milk between milking times and pickups. Now it’s our gift shop, where you can pick up Red Clover souvenirs and browse local art and artisan goods.
Animal Friends
Animals are an important part of Red Clover ranch. Although we don’t have any working animals, we’re home to a small menagerie of cats, dogs, and goats. Many of our animals are rescues, and we’re happy to give them a safe and loving home on our property.
The Grounds and Surroundings
Nestled in a valley and surrounded by forested ridges and ridge-top fields, the grounds feel both intimate and expansive. Our location on the Mississippi flyway means we’re home to many bird species from the spring through the fall. Like our human guests, the birds love the stream that runs through the property, our wild apple orchard, our three rock outcroppings, and the many native grasses, flowers, shrubs, and trees that call Red Clover home.
Our grounds feature two 1-mile hiking trails. If you’re seeking a longer hiking adventure, we’re a great starting point for excursions to the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and Wild Cat Mountain. Canoers, kayakers, and fly fishers will appreciate our proximity to the Wisconsin and Kickapoo rivers and their tributaries. The nearby town of Viroqua is home to lovely shops, a weekend farmers market, and some of the best dining in the region.
