  • The Driftless refers to a small area in the Midwest that was bypassed by the last Continental Glacial Drift. Since this area wasn’t filled in and reshaped by glaciers, it has a dramatic topography characterized by steep hills, forested ridges, and deeply carved river valleys. The Driftless has the largest concentration of cold water creeks in the world. It is an area of springs and ancient mosses, rock outcroppings and wildflowers. It is what the midwest would have looked like if the glaciers didn’t come through – and Red Clover sits in the heart of it. Check out the Our Story page for more information.

  • Out of respect for guests of the ranch, we don’t allow drop-ins. If you’d like to check out the property before booking, contact us at hello@redcloverranch.com or (608) 313-5022 to set up an appointment.

  • Unfortunately we don’t allow dogs, since they can disrupt the harmony of the other animals who live at the ranch.

  • We tailor our offerings to each group’s specific needs, so our pricing is designed to reflect that. Reach out to us through any of the inquiry forms on our site, or contact us directly at hello@redcloverranch.com to discuss your ideas and needs.

  • Check with your event leader for their specific cancellation policy. For events and weekends hosted by Red Clover, you may cancel up to 12 p.m. local EST 30 days prior to arrival to receive a full refund. For cancellations made less than 30 days prior to arrival, we will charge the full payment. For all of our reservations, we require a down payment and then offer payments plans prior to check in. No refunds for early check out.

One day events, concerts, and dinners are non-refundable. You can transfer your ticket to another party by emailing hello@redcloverranch.com atleast 48 hours prior to the event.

  • As the seasons shift, so will your packing needs. We will send you a list of recommended items prior to your stay. We highly recommend a headlamp or flashlight for walking around the ranch at night. The stars are amazing up here but won’t light your path. Muck boots or durable shoes are helpful for the sometimes muddy trails. Depending on the season, bug spray, sunscreen, rain or snow gear is recommended. Bring a bathrobe and bathing suit for the sauna. We also recommend warm layers as the mornings and evenings can be cool, and the weather can change quickly. We provide all basic linens, towels, and bath amenities, as well as playing cards, dice and classic board games for your enjoyment.

  • Your time at Red Clover Ranch will be comfortable, with all the basic amenities (and some extras!) that you would expect from a cabin rental. Due to its location nestled in the Driftless Region – an area full of ridges and valleys that has mostly dodged big-agriculture farming – you will encounter local flora and fauna, including native plants and wild fruit trees, lots of insects (some more pesky than others), birds, and even a couple of farm goats. All of this makes up the ecosystem of the area. Our desire is for guests of Red Clover to not only connect with themselves and with each other, but embrace their surroundings and connect with the natural world. Consult our what-to-pack list to help you enjoy your surroundings to the fullest.

  • We hope you have perfect weather for your stay at Red Clover. That said, we always recommend you check the weather apps prior to your stay. All the seasons have something to offer in The Driftless. Please know the roads surrounding the ranch are very well tended to and plowed in the case of snow.

  • We are located outside Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, a very small town located 20 miles south of Viroqua. The hills, valleys and lush foliage make every drive a sight to be seen.

  • The kitchen at Red Clover Ranch is run by local chef Dani Lind of Rooted Spoon Kitchen and Table. An expert in local farm-to-table cuisine, Dani is committed to sourcing at least 75% of her ingredients from local farmers and producers. Staying in-sync with the local food system will ensure a fruitful connection to the surrounding land, seasons, and community.

  • There are a few ways to rent a cabin at Red Clover. The first is by booking one of our Weekend Cabin Packages, which happen on select weekends each year. The second is via AirBnB, where we make individual cabins available when we’re not hosting a larger group. Check our Ranch page for AirBnB links for each cabin.

  • If you would like to supplement your stay with additional activities there is great hiking, biking (road and mountain), and canoeing in the area. We’ll point you in the right direction. There is also guided fly fishing (we have some of the best in the world!), guided biking, and great massage therapists who can come to the ranch – with advance notice, we can arrange a session. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll do our best to help!

  • Please do not bring your own firewood, since outside firewood can carry invasive species. We have firewood onsite available in small bundles.
