Dispatch #1 - Hello and What We Are Building

We are excited to report that construction is moving right along at Red Clover Ranch, and we hope to wrap up later this winter. 

The building team, Driftless HomeWrights, Forkash Electric, Strang Plumbing, Harless Excavating, Dani, and I have put so much time and intention into every aspect of building Red Clover, and we can't wait to share it with you soon. 

You may be wondering what exactly we are building and what are we planning to do. We are renovating an old 2,000 square foot dairy barn into a commercial space including a multi-use first floor that has heat and AC, sprung floor, bar, commercial kitchen, attached screened-in porch with brick oven, and (last but not least) 2 bathrooms. The second floor features a seasonal-use hayloft. The illustrations below show the barn from two sides. 

    
We are building a cabin area with a pretty-darn-nice bathhouse that has bathrooms, a screened-in porch overlooking the valley, sleeping room, summer kitchen, sauna, and outdoor shower. There will be three 2-room cabins, one single-room cabin, and a 2-story bunkhouse cabin with kitchen and bath. We will be able to host 15-19 people overnight.

We also have hiking trails, a fire pit, farm animals to pet, a creek, and many places to sit and take in the beauty of The Driftless. If you don't know The Driftless area of southwest Wisconsin, you are in for a pleasant surprise to discover this special corner of the earth. 

Part of our goal is to build as intentionally and sustainably as possible, with a dash of practicality. We'll go more in depth on that in a future dispatch!  

So a little bit about what our plans are....Red Clover is a retreat space, event space, and cabin rental. What does this mean? Starting in Spring 2023, we will be booking all-inclusive guided retreats, company off-sites, and weddings for up to 75 guests, as well as farm dinners and other events.
