Dispatch From the Ranch: Weekend at The Ranch with Farm Dinner + Sima Cunningham
Hello Friends,
It’s apple blossom, morel-hunting, bird utopia, cut-the-grass-every-5-days season at the Ranch. May is an effervescent stretch in the Driftless, dazzling and frenetic. We’ve been finishing up projects we’ve been “meaning to get to” since opening 2 years ago and we’re ready for you!
One not-to-be-missed event is coming July 11th to 13th—A Weekend at The Ranch. These weekends give you the opportunity to enjoy Red Clover Ranch outside of a retreat structure, but with some light programming.
Think blooming nature, gorgeous music, and next-level food. We will be kicking the weekend off with a special Farm Dinner Friday night. Our Chef, Dani Lind will be collaborating with Guest Chef Valeria Socorro Velazquez Lindsten, the James Beard Semifinalist behind Cafe Loba Pastry, for an exceptional seasonal menu.
Accompanying the farm dinner, we will be cheering glasses with a very special pour. Over ten years ago, I officiated the wedding of Elise and Tony of Las Mujeres Winery and Farm at Red Clover. Las Mujeres harvested the apples from our orchard, and we’ll be serving up the result—a Las Mujeres x Red Clover Ranch Cider. It is absolutely delicious. They will also be doing tastings of their other natural ciders and wines.
After dinner, we’ll welcome the multi-talented Sima Cunningham to our valley stage for an outdoor concert. A founder of FINOM, Sima has been featured in pretty much every music publication, toured with Jeff Tweedy, Richard Thompson, Iron & Wine, Chance the Rapper, and Twin Peaks, and performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk. I think she is one of the great voices in contemporary music and her gorgeous musicianship + the acoustics in our valley are going to be next-level Driftless magic.
Saturday we will feed you breakfast+dinner. Spend the rest of the day exploring the beauty of the Driftless; hiking, biking, canoeing, visiting Viroqua and its stores and farmers market. Or hang at the ranch reading a book, playing a game, hiking our trails, taking a sauna, or enjoying a nap in the hammock. Sunday morning we will send you off with a hearty brunch of freshly baked goods and a savory meal.
We can’t imagine a dreamier weekend, and we hope you’ll join us! This will probably be the only Weekend at The Ranch this season and we have a limited amount of rooms available, so grab your spot ASAP. We are offering a 5% discount if you sign up by May 20th. Use discount code EARLYBIRD.
Local friends! We will be opening reservations on our website for the July 11th Farm Dinner + Concert on May 21st. We will send out a newsletter next week with the link or check our website.
So here we are, year 3, and a big thank you all for coming to the Ranch, reading these newsletters, and your overall support. Check out all our retreats on our events page, and sign up for one. Looking forward to hosting you this season.
