Dispatch From the Ranch: Breathing Is Wow + New Retreat Announcement
Hello Friends,
Big breath in and big breath out.
It’s funny that the one thing we do our entire life is breathe, and yet how little most of us know about it or its capabilities. I’ve dabbled with breath over the years in different ways—I assisted my yoga practice with Ujjayi breath, learned control and manipulation while getting my degree in classical bassoon, and I’ve sat in meditation observing my breath. But it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to work with my friend, bodywork & breathwork practitioner, Kate Sheehy, last summer that…wow…it changed my relationship with my breath and revealed its powerful magic. After our sessions, I had one of those ‘A-HA’ moments—breath is the giver of life, and so of course it must have capabilities beyond a surface understanding.
On one of our latest podcast episodes, I talked with Kate about why working with your breath is a direct conduit to regulating your nervous system, consciousness shifts, and emotional expansion. Kate has a very astute somatic and technical perspective, and she’s a wonderfully fun person. I hope you enjoy our fascinating conversation.
If you are interested in exploring breathwork, please join us for Kate’s Breathwork Awareness and Generative Practices Retreat from June 26-29th. She will be joined by the incredibly talented musician, Amalea Tshilds, who will lead vocalizations as one of the generative practices. This is a very special opportunity to explore your breath, including singing (you will be amazed how fun it is to sing even if you don’t think you can). There will also be time for rest, nourishment, community, and play. Payment plans are available. Come alone or bring a friend.
In more news we have a new retreat announcement; Gwen Ripp of Intentionally Outdoors is leading a wonderful nature focused retreat, and for a limited time she is offering early bird pricing. Read on!
We look forward to hosting you,
